I am the Green Party Committeeman of the 25th Ward
I’m happy to announce that I’ve been appointed Green Party Committeeman of the 25th Ward.
For those unfamiliar with the position:
The positions are unpaid, with responsibilities that include voter registration, community forums, election materials, and election operations. In addition, the committeepeople are responsible for producing smooth political processes during the elections in their wards, which includes attempting to produce high voter turnout.
Join the Green Party
I encourage you to get involved if you’re frustrated with a two-party system propped up by corporate campaign contributions. If you were disgusted by the mainstream media’s coverage of the Sanders campaign and now-prescient pragmatic policies like Medicare for All, then you should consider joining the Green Party.
As a resident of a “safe Blue state” you have an obligation to help challenge our dysfunctional status quo. Your vote for a Green Party presidential candidate isn’t going to give Illinois’s electoral college votes to Trump, but it will help to build an alternative to the conservative Madigan Machine. When you vote for me for commissioner for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, there is no chance it will enable the Republicans to take a seat; there won’t be a Republican on the ballot in November.
But Trump…
It’s become increasingly clear that the Democratic Party isn’t our best hope for change, but is instead the establishment’s defense against it.
It’s a little ridiculous to claim to be fighting against Trump’s sexism, only to then go vote for a party whose leadership sexually harassed an employee, then blacklisted her for speaking up, then actively worked to protect the harasser.
It’s hard for me to take your breathless accounts of Trump’s racism seriously when I was personally harassed by high-profile Democratic pollsters for being Mexican-American. Were they ever held “accountable”? No. They still get their millions in Democratic contracts every year. Kids in cages? Obama did that too. Moreover, many of these immigrants wouldn’t be in this perilous situation if our Deporter-in-Chief, along with Hillary Clinton, didn’t enable a right-wing military coup against Honduras’s democratically-elected Progressive president.
“But Trump is an existential threat,” they say. That’s weird: The Same Democrats Who Denounce Donald Trump as a Lawless, Treasonous Authoritarian Just Voted to Give Him Vast Warrantless Spying Powers
While I have no doubt that any other administration would’ve better handled the CoViD-19 pandemic response, let us not forget that it was Hillary Clinton, the Democrats, and their allies in the media who “elevated” Trump.
These are not aberrations. This is not complicated. Don’t be sexist. Don’t be racist. Respect Democracy.
